AIM

AIM is an instant messaging application system which helps the user to communicate easily. This system allows the OSCAR instant messaging protocol. This system of instant messaging was released on May 1997. It is one of the popular instant messaging system in United States. This messaging system helps to communicate by sending text messages, voice mails and video mails. This system ha s a large share of market for instant messaging. The early version of AIM called AIM 2.0 featured person to person messaging, share files, chat room messaging, etc. The other version AIM 4.3 introduced many interesting features like storing the contact list. The AIM also added the facility of playing games for the clients using Microsoft Windows.
The games can be played by using the WildTangent engine. The other version of this system, AIM 5.5 allowed the user to have video conferencing. Video conferencing was the latest trend in instant messaging system. Many softwares incorporated this system of video conferencing.

AIM has made it possible to communicate easily through text, video and voice mail. AIM is available for the users of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and MAC OS. The first version of AIM was AIM 2.0. This version had the features like chatroom messaging, instant messaging between person to person and to share files with your friends. The better version of this was AIM 4.3, this helped the user to store the contact list on AOL's servers. This allowed the users to store list of 600 friends. After launching AIM 5.5 They launched AIM 5.9 which was named AIM Triton. The programing code of Triton was rewritten which featured new UI engine. The first version of Triton only supported Windows XP. The early versions of Aim are available on its home page. Triton was then renamed on September 29, 2006 as AIM 6.0. UI engine was changed in this version. On December 15, the final version of AIM 6.0 was released.

This version included ,any new features like additional customization, address book, etc. Instant messaging has solved many problems f communication process. AIM 6.1 the better version added features like inserting images and friend list docking. It also helped to highlight and change the colors of UI. AIM Express is another version which only runs in a pop up browser window. The protocol used for AIM is OSCAR.

AIM lacks in security which is why many people doesn't use this service. There are many terms used by AIM in instant messaging like Block, Away message, Buddy list, Spim, Direct Connection, Tare Limiting, Warning, Screen name, Block, etc. Each terms carries its own meaning and has its own feature. Like Screen name is used for the user using the system. The way of communication is changing and in future one can expect more advanced software to come up which will make the instant messaging more fast.
